Terminology to be familiar with:
Hue basically means color. When we say "yellow", "black", we are talking about hue.

Value is the lightness of a colour. Lighter colour have higher value so we can say white has a higher value compared to black. In my research, it is noted that designs with high contrast value produces more aesthetically pleasing designs. This is a 2 minute drawing of a bee I did on Paint (don't judge me & yes, I noticed there's no wings) and it's evident that the yellow really stands out in from the black.
Saturation is how strong a hue looks. If a hue is desaturated, it would be look more grey.
Secondary colours are the love child of two primary colours. For example: Red + Yellow = Orange.
Tertiary colours are the products of two secondary colours.
Analogous colours are the adjacent colours to a main colour and it's really not as complicated as it sounds. Just pick a colour and the colours on it's left and right and you have yourself a nice analogous colour scheme. Here's a nice chart to explain everything words couldn't.
Monochromatic colours is as simple as it sounds. Mono = one, single. It means different tines and shades in hue.
Tint is created when white is added to a hue, making it lighter while Shade is created when black is added to hue and thus making it darker than the original.
