My theme: Human anatomy & flowers ❀
Notes: I have to admit that I have sort of a love-hate relationship with this assignment.
Hated it because:
- I hate using sharp tools
- My thick fat butter fingers are not meant to do such delicate work
- Therefore, everything was tearing left and right
- Why did I have to pick suck a difficult design
- Oh god, please don't let me cut myself
But I was in love:
- It was very relaxing & doesn't require much thinking
- It is addictive (once you get the hang of it)
- The end result is beautiful if done right
Product: (excuse the bad quality images)
Inspired by the one and only Tim Burton. When I think of anatomies in art, the first thing I thought of was Corpse Bride, one of my favorite movies of all time. I decided to give a little colour to the flowers to make it 'pop' and the leaves are actually real leaves.
The more time consuming piece obviously because of the amount of details I felt like it should have. Overall, I just wanted to portray how life is a cycle. Death is not the end because as our bodies decompose, it provides nutrients for the living and to me, that's beautiful.
Footnote: If there is one other thing I learned from this assignment is to use spray glue with some thing so delicate. Or else it would be very messy and glue stains will be obvious! Will keep that in mind next time!
