Basically for the semester, we are to design and create a retail space for a client based on art style themes such as futuristic, chic & rustic, retro, street art and other etc. How we get our particular theme, you asked? If you guessed lucky draw, you're right!
So my theme is street art and that's what I'll be working with for the semester. I chose to design for an Indian designer known as Manish Arora and his self-label because I am utterly inspired by his Autumn/ Winter 12/13 collection, which I'll introduce to you soon!
Now on to Project 1: Colourless Wall
This project is to create a featured wall for the store based on our theme without using colours. In other words, use a lot of textures, lines and shapes to express the style.
Images above are my inspiration for my wall. If I can't use colours, then let the spontaneous and unpredictable shapes and movement speak for me.
Based on my proposals, the third one felt less rigid and allowed space for exploration so after discussing with my lecturers, decided to go for it and make a mock up.
And after further development, this is the press shot and final product:
Instead of the brand, I changed the wordings to a tagline that I created for the brand instead: Dress and Provocation. Depending on the size of the retail space, I will probably choose to display this infront of the entrance or behind the counter.
